Founded in 2019 by 2-time IBJJF World Master Champion João Pedro "Somalia" Rodrigues and his wife, Rockstar McKinney was built on a simple belief: that martial arts can change lives. After years competing internationally in Brazil and beyond, Coach Somalia moved to the U.S. to build the academy he always dreamed of — and later expanded the Rockstar family to North Prosper in 2024.
Head Coach
João Pedro "Somalia" Rodrigues
Known as "Somalia," João Pedro is a BJJ black belt who began training at 15 in Brazil and became a 2-time IBJJF World Master Champion and Pan American Champion. He moved to the U.S. to pursue his dream, founding Rockstar McKinney with his wife in 2019 and later expanding to North Prosper in 2024.
